HTC One Mini Vs Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, which is the best Mini ?

HTC One Mini Vs Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini

HTC has taken the lid off the younger brother of HTC One, the HTC One Mini. This Mini has been launched yesterday and is ready to compete with the Galaxy S4 Mini from Samsung.

When Galaxy S4 and HTC One were launched this year, the battle was between the metal clad HTC One and the feature perfect Galaxy S4. While the Galaxy S4 was packed with better features and a very good camera the HTC One was a marvel in itself with its aluminum body yet light weight Android. The HTC One gave a new dimension to cheaper plastic bodied phones, showing them that Android can go premium with great design.

Design and form factor
Now with the Mini avatar of HTC One, we can clearly say, yup this is the One. HTC has been sticking to its unibody metal design, and is bringing a premium smartphone within budget.

Samsung is still obsessed with polycarbonate body for its phones, as it says it makes the phones lighter (during the launch of Galaxy S4 in India). Though the Galaxy Mini is lighter than the HTC counterpart by a 15 grams margin and thinner by 0.35 mm, the looks will be the first point where Galaxy S4 loses the battle against HTC’s Mini.
Display and processor

The Mini from HTC sports a display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels on a 4.3 inch that gives a 341 pixels per inches. No doubt it will overcome the Galaxy S4 Mini’s super amoled 960 x 540 pixels resolution on a 4.3 inch screen.

The processor part is where the HTC One lose the battle to Galaxy S4’s Mini. With a better display and dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers with Beats Audio the HTC One Mini needs a faster processor no doubt. The S4 Mini and HTC Mini sport the same processor Qualcomm MSM8930 Snapdragon 400 processor. While HTC One speeds it at 1.4 GHz, Samsung manages a speed of 1.7 GHz for the powerhouse. Galaxy S4 Mini packs a 1.5 GB RAM to support its processor, while the HTC One packs a mere 1 GB RAM.

Camera

The camera in HTC Mini will follow the flagship, as the HTC One Mini and carry a 2 ultrapixel camera. (HTC One has 4 ultrapixel camera). Galaxy S4 Mini also played down with the camera with an 8 megapixel in comparison to its bigger brother’s 13 megapixel shooter.

Competition and conclusion

If you want a faster performing phone, the Galaxy S4 Mini is the one. While the HTC One Mini will add to your smart style the performance lags due to slower processor speed and lower battery, might damage the show.

Interesting fact is in India we have a lot of quad-core processor based phones with a 13 megapixel primary camera on a 5-inch to go with rather than 8 megapixel one. The Micromax Canvas 4, iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1, Wammy Passion Z+, BLU Life One, Karbonn Titanium S9 are good phones with quad-core processor and 13 megapixel phones. At a price of Rs. 27K one can also think of the Xperia ZR as a phone with added advantage of being water-resistant.

The Galaxy S4 Mini is available at Rs. 27990. Other competitors are available at between Rs. 15000 to Rs. 20000. HTC One Mini has got a good competition in the Indian market and it now needs to plays the trick on the price point.

The comparisons are given in table
