it will have an 1/1.6-inch Exmor RS stacked sensor and will have a Sony CyberShot G lens, which is a premium grade glass lens. If one looks at the sensor size alone then we know this is a massive sensor for a smartphone. Only the Nokia PureView 808 has a larger 1/1.2-inch sensor and it barely pips the Nokia N8 in terms of sensor size which had a 1/1.83-inch sensor. Even the Samsung Galaxy camera pales in sensor size, leave alone the newly launched Galaxy S 4 and HTC One smartphones.
Sony is planning to incorporate a Xenon or a dual LED flash setup so that the images are 10 times brighter than normal smartphones. There is even word of a new Plasma Flash technology, but this does not look so feasible.
According to the report, Sony wants to have the biggest camera sensor on an Android smartphone and wants to eclipse the Nokia N8 purely in terms of technical specifications for the camera.
Sony internally estimates a thickness of 10mm which will make it much slimmer than the Nokia PureView 808 and the N8. Both these devices had a massive camera bulge on the back that added to the thickness.
- Sony plans on adopting a glass and metal chassis for the device but ‘Carbon Fibre’ will also make an appearance.
